Square Nut Configurations
Regular Square Nuts
Standard-height square nuts used in timber construction, carriage bolt assemblies, industrial machinery, and general-purpose fastening where square profile compatibility is required.
Thin and Machine Screw Square Nuts
Reduced-height square nuts used in smaller assemblies and lighter-duty applications. These are commonly specified in equipment maintenance, electrical hardware, and legacy machinery where limited thread projection or space constraints exist.
Heavy Square Nuts
Heavy square nuts provide increased thickness and bearing area for applications requiring additional thread engagement or greater clamping surface. These are used in structural timber systems, heavy equipment assemblies, and certain maintenance applications where square geometry is specified.
Applications
Square nuts are commonly used in timber and wood-frame assemblies, agricultural and outdoor equipment, carriage bolt systems, industrial machinery maintenance, restoration of vintage machinery and legacy equipment, and replacement parts programs requiring square-pattern hardware.
In many cases, square nuts are specified to maintain compatibility with original equipment or existing assemblies.
Standard vs. Print-Specific Supply
Many square nuts are supplied to established dimensional standards. Where drawings specify alternate materials, non-standard heights, special thread forms, or coatings, production may become print-specific.
When customer prints are provided, G-Fast reviews specifications for manufacturability, feasibility, and cost efficiency. Any recommended adjustments must be approved by the customer’s engineering team and reflected on an updated drawing prior to production. G-Fast does not provide design services.
How G-Fast Supports Your Requirements
G-Fast supplies regular, thin, and heavy square nuts for commercial, industrial, maintenance, and government-specified applications. We work strictly from approved customer documentation and support both domestic and specification-driven procurement requirements.

Geometry and Functional Characteristics of Square Nuts
The square shape provides flat bearing surfaces and 90-degree corners that may seat against mating materials or within prepared recesses.
In certain assemblies, square nuts are used with carriage bolts where the square neck of the bolt engages the base material while the square nut completes the clamping system. In other cases, square nuts are specified to maintain compatibility with existing hardware patterns in industrial or maintenance environments.
Square nuts are not selected as an upgrade over hex nuts; they are specified when geometry, legacy design, or application conditions require a square configuration.
Materials and Thread Configurations of Square Nuts
Regular square nuts are available in a range of materials depending on environmental exposure and strength requirements, including carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, and other specified alloys.
Thread configurations may include unified and metric series in accordance with applicable standards or approved customer drawings.
Dimensional standards may reference ASME, DIN, or ISO specifications where applicable.
